(RTTNews) - Daré Bioscience (DARE) said clinical data from a Phase 1 study of its investigational Sildenafil Cream, 3.6%, will be presented at the Annual Fall Scientific Meeting of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) in Orlando, Florida.

The presentation will compare the safety and relative bioavailability of topical Sildenafil Cream with oral sildenafil in healthy adult men. Daré said the study provides additional clinical evidence supporting further development of its topical formulation.

At the 71 mg topical dose, mean maximum plasma concentration of sildenafil was approximately 187-fold lower than with the 50 mg oral dose, while systemic exposure measured by area under the curve was approximately 33- to 34-fold lower.

All treatment-emergent adverse events reported in the study were mild, with no serious or severe adverse events, deaths or treatment-related discontinuations reported.

Daré Medical Director Annie Thurman, MD, FACOG, will present the data during the Innovations in Sexual Medicine Abstracts session on October 9. The findings were also recently published in Sexual Medicine, the official journal of the International Society for Sexual Medicine.

The Phase 1 study in men complements Daré's clinical development program evaluating Sildenafil Cream in women with female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD), a condition for which there are currently no FDA-approved pharmacological treatments.

Daré has evaluated Sildenafil Cream in Phase 1, Phase 2a and Phase 2b studies in women and is continuing activities to advance the product toward a potential FDA 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway.

Daré Bioscience is a women's health biotechnology company developing products across sexual health, contraception, menopause, fertility, vaginal health and other areas of women's healthcare.

Currently, DARE is trading at $0.76, down 3.72%.
